Baldwin Metropolis Junior Substantial has obtained practically $30,000 in grant funding to buy bicycles, gear and curriculum elements to train youths how to safely ride a bicycle, thanks to a partnership involving Lawrence-Douglas County General public Wellbeing and LiveWell Douglas County.
According to a release from the well being department, the $29,155 grant is through Blue Cross and Blue Defend of Kansas. LiveWell, a volunteer-led coalition centered on community health and fitness and wellness, associates with local community corporations like the wellness section to disburse grant pounds from a Pathways to a Wholesome Kansas award.
The biking curriculum, “Be Energetic Safe and sound Routes,” was made by local educators and volunteers and supported by the well being section by the Kansas Division of Health and Environment’s Long-term Condition Danger Reduction Grant. Elsewhere in Douglas County, the curriculum is now applied at Lawrence elementary and middle educational institutions.
“We are thrilled to receive this grant and are so grateful to Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health and fitness and LiveWell for their support,” Baldwin Town Junior Significant Principal Derek Bland mentioned in the release. “With the cash from this grant, our faculty will be equipped to commence a biking method in our P.E. classes. We hope that this will guide to a lifetime enthusiasm for biking, which is healthy for the two the human body and the intellect.”
